Westchester Station
Just east of Cobequid Pass on the Trans-Canada Highway is the small rural community of Westchester Station. Like most of the communities in the region, the area around Westchester Station was settled for the purpose of cutting timber and farming, which led to the establishment of grist mills and sawmills.
Named for a station built on the Intercontinental Railway line between Amherst and Truro, Westchester Station serves the Westchester Valley. Nearby Wentworth provides numerous recreational opportunities to residents of Westchester Station, as do Isaac Lake and the Portapique River Wilderness area.
