West Springhill
Like so many of the communities in western Nova Scotia, West Springhill, NS, was established in the mid-1800s due to the booming timber industry. A sawmill and a camp for supplies and equipment provided the early economic base for our community, which later turned to farming as the land was cleared.
Though forestry continues on a much smaller scale today, West Springhill is a quiet rural community focused primarily on farming. Because of our proximity to Sandy Bottom Lake, some tourism in the form of hiking, fishing, and hunting provides an additional draw to our community.
