Tupperville
Before the Acadian expulsion, Tupperville, NS, was called Girouard Village, home to the Girouard family from 1690 to 1755. After the Protestant resettlement, our community got its name from Canada's sixth prime minister, Sir Charles Tupper, who was said to frequent the area.
Located on the old Annapolis County Railway, now a snowshoeing, hiking, and biking trail that extends from the mouth of the Bear River to Kingston, residents and visitors have access to the abundance of wildlife and birdlife in our area. The Annapolis River is on the migratory route of the monarch butterfly and it contains striped bass, sturgeon, and sea trout, while efforts are being made to restore its salmon population.
