Riverdale
Just like many of the communities in western Nova Scotia, Riverdale, NS, was established during the booming timber industry days of the mid-1800s. Built around a camp for supplies and equipment as well as a sawmill, farming operations began to pop up in the area as the land was cleared.
Forestry continues on a much smaller scale today, so the quiet rural community of Riverdale is focused primarily on farming. Because of our community’s proximity to Provost Lake and Bear Lake, some tourism in the form of hiking, fishing, and hunting provides an additional draw to our community.
