Located near the headwaters of the Philip River, Oxford is just over fifty years old, established in 1972 and named for the nearby location where settlers crossed the river with their oxen. Our community is the blueberry capital of the world, processing and distributing individually quick frozen (IQF) wild blueberries on a larger scale than any other place on earth.
Before blueberries took over, Oxford was home to a vibrant manufacturing industry with a wool mill and foundry, which were key employers. The river, an abundance of lakes, and plenty of room to explore make our community an attractive place for hunters, fisherman, hikers, and campers.
