Lower Ohio
Like so many of the communities in southern Nova Scotia, Lower Ohio, NS, was established in the 1800s around the timber industry. Located not far from the bank of the Roseway River, timber was floated downstream to Shelburne for milling.
Though the lumber industry continues on a much smaller scale today, Lower Ohio is now a quiet rural community mostly focused on farming. However, some tourism in the form of hiking, fishing, and hunting provides an additional draw to our community.
