Lawrencetown

Not to be confused with the Lawrencetown near Halifax, Lawrencetown, NS, in Annapolis County was first settled in 1760 and named after Nova Scotia governor Charles Lawrence. First named Richardson's Landing and Lunn's Mill until receiving its current name in 1827, our community was the location of several early saw and woollen mills and various agricultural industries.

Lawrencetown is home to the Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS) branch of the Nova Scotia Community College and was nominated as one of the top 12 towns for Kraft Hockeyville. Since 1927, a week-long agricultural event, the Annapolis Valley Exhibition, has been held each year at the Lawrencetown Exhibition Grounds.
