Lahave
Henry Hudson made landfall at LaHave, NS, in 1609 on his voyage on behalf of the Dutch East India Company. Our community was the capital of Acadia from 1632 until the expulsion from 1755-1764, after which it became the economic centre of fishing, trade, and shipbuilding for the surrounding area under the Protestant resettlement.
LaHave serves the surrounding communities with a volunteer fire department and first responder service, a federal post office, Saint James Anglican Church, the LaHave River Ferry, and LaHave Seafoods. The LaHave Bakery operates as a year-round bakery and cafe and houses a Craft Co-Op during the summer, where local artists sell their crafts.
