Gaspereau
The communities of Wallbrook, Melanson, Benjamin Bridge, and White Rock, all within the 15 kilometre Gaspereau River Valley are typically referred to as Gaspereau, NS. The Acadians came to the area around 1680, calling the fish and the area "Gasparot."
Today, there is still a commercial fishery for Gaspereau in the river, but dairy farming, orchards, and vineyards are the primary economic activities in our community. Tubing the river is a common Gaspereau activity for residents and visitors during the hot summer months when the river is high.
